Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

At Sequoyah Dental, we know patients often have questions about insurance, appointments, treatments, and what to expect. Here are answers to the most common ones.

Insurance & Payments

  • Q: Do you accept my insurance?

A: We work with most major dental insurance providers. If we are in-network with your plan, your benefits will typically go further. If we are out-of-network, you can still be seen; however, your coverage may differ. Our team will gladly help you check benefits before your appointment.

  • Q: What’s the difference between in-network and out-of-network?

A: In-Network means we have a contract with your insurance company to provide services at set rates, often reducing your out-of-pocket costs. Out-of-Network means we are not contracted, but many plans still cover care at our office, though you may pay a different portion.

  • Q: Can you help me understand my insurance benefits?

A: Yes! We verify benefits for all of our patients. We’ll explain what your plan covers, what it may not, and what your estimated out-of-pocket costs are before starting treatment.

  • Q: What if I don’t have dental insurance?

A: You are welcome here! Many of our patients don’t have insurance. We’ll explain treatment costs up front, and we offer payment options to make care affordable.

  • Q: Do you submit claims to insurance for me?

A: Yes! We file claims on your behalf and handle the paperwork so you don’t have to.

  • Q: Will I know the cost before treatment?

A: Absolutely! We provide a detailed treatment plan that outlines estimated insurance coverage and your portion before starting treatment. No surprises.

  • Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: We accept cash, checks, debit, and all major credit cards. We also offer payment plan options for larger treatments—ask our front desk for details.

New Patients

  • Q: What should I bring to my first appointment?

A: Please bring a photo ID, your insurance card (if applicable), and a list of medications you’re taking. Arriving 10 minutes early helps us keep your onboarding and visit smooth and timely.

  • Q: What will happen at my first visit?

A: We’ll review your health history, take any necessary X-rays, perform a comprehensive exam, and clean your teeth (if appropriate). Then we’ll discuss recommendations tailored to your smile.

  • Q: Do you accept new patients and families?

A: Yes! We love welcoming new patients of all ages, whether you’re new to the area or just looking for a better dental experience, we’d love to welcome you to our Sequoyah Dental family.

Appointments & Scheduling

  • Q: How often should I visit the dentist?

A: For most patients, every 6 months is ideal for cleanings and checkups. Some patients may need more frequent visits based on their oral health.

  • Q: What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

A: We ask for at least 24 hours of notice so we can offer your time to another patient.

  • Q: Do you see emergency cases?

A: Yes! If you’re experiencing pain, swelling, or a broken tooth, call us right away and we’ll do everything we can to see you promptly. If it is a medical emergency, dial 9-1-1.

  • Q: What if I have a dental emergency after hours?

A: Call our office. Our voicemail will provide instructions for reaching us or getting care right away. If it is a medical emergency, dial 9-1-1.

Treatments & Services

  • Q: Do you offer cosmetic dentistry?

A: Yes! We provide a full range of cosmetic services including whitening, veneers, crowns, and smile makeovers.

  • Q: Do you treat children?

A: Absolutely! We love seeing patients of all ages and making dental visits positive for kids.

  • Q: Do you offer teeth whitening?

A: Yes, we offer professional whitening treatments that are safe, effective, and deliver faster results than over-the-counter products.

  • Q: What are dental implants?

A: Dental implants are a permanent solution for replacing missing teeth. They function like natural teeth and help maintain jawbone health. We can walk you through whether implants are right for you.

  • Q: Do you do same-day crowns?

A: Yes, with our advanced technology, many crowns can be designed and placed in a single visit. No temporary crowns, no second appointment.
